Assistant Professor - Sports Management Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, and Sport Sciences College of Education, Health, and Human Studies Full time - Tenure Track
Primary Responsibilities - Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in most of the following areas: sport marketing, sport finance, research methods, sporting event management, sport-related venue design and operation, sport law, management and leadership in sport organizations, and topics, trends, and issues in sport, sport management principles and practices for international, collegiate, and professional sport.
- Engage in scholarly activity and professional development.
- Provide leadership and management for the Sport Management program including accreditation through Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).
- Build collaborative partnerships with sport professionals and organizations to enhance experiential learning opportunities for students.
- Develop innovative programmatic initiatives including industry outreach activities and programs for student engagement.
- Actively engage in student advisement and mentoring.
- Supervise undergraduate internships.
- Assist with student recruitment and retention.
- Engage in service activities at the department, college and university levels
- Work collaboratively with faculty to strengthen the programs within the department
Required Qualifications
- Doctorate or ABD (completion by August 1, 2026) in sport management or a closely related field; Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited /government certified university
- Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level
- Demonstrated record of scholarship
- Demonstrated effective professional experience in the sport management field
- Experience with COSMA accreditation is a plus
- Active engagement or membership in sport management professional associations
- Strong interpersonal, written, oral communication, and educational technology skills
- Demonstrated commitment to the Teacher-Scholar Model
- Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others in the university community
- Qualified to teach in most of the following areas: sport marketing, sport finance, research methods, sporting event management, sport-related venue design and operation, sport law, management and leadership in sport organizations, topics, trends, and issues in sport, and sport management principles and practices for international, collegiate, and professional sport

Departmental Information: The Department of Allied Health, Kinesiology, Sport Sciences is housed within the College of Education, Health, and Human Studies and has 20 full-time faculty members serving approximately 450 students. The department offers undergraduate degrees in Applied Technology (Allied Health), Health Management: Exercise Science, Health Sciences, Nutrition, Physical Education (K-12), Respiratory Therapy, and Sport Management and graduate master's degrees in Applied Nutrition, Athletic Training, and Nutrition and Exercise Science. The department offers nationally accredited programs in Athletic Training (CAATE), Nutrition/Applied Nutrition (ACEND), Physical Education (DESE), Respiratory Therapy (CoARC), and Sports Management (COSMA).
