Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program.
• Must be BOC certified and possess state athletic training licensure, certification orregistration. 
• Certificate/License: Certified and currently licensed or in the process of acquiring licensure, certification, or registration from the state of Hawaii.
• Skills & Attributes: Strong communication skills, ability to work with students across a wide range of ages, flexibility, and a passion for student health and athletics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Frequent physical activity, including lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping.
• Requires manual dexterity and coordination for medical procedures and treatment.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors and in various weather conditions.
• Ability to manage high-pressure situations, particularly in injury assessment and emergency care.
• Enjoys working with student-athletes and helping them achieve peak performance while ensuring their health and safety.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Athletic Training Services:

• Provide comprehensive athletic training services for high school student-athletes, including injury assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and prevention strategies.
• Offer immediate care during practices and competitions, ensuring a safe and competitive athletic environment.
• Serve as the primary liaison between athletes, coaches, families, and medical professionals, facilitating communication and treatment plans.
• Maintain detailed records of injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation plans, ensuring compliance with state and league regulations.
• Coordinate and attend pre-participation physical examinations, ensuring all athletes meet eligibility requirements.
• Work closely with the Maui Interscholastic League (MIL) to organize athletic training coverage for league tournaments and competitions.
• Develop and manage the athletic training program budget, ensuring necessary supplies and equipment are available for optimal student-athlete care.
• Assist the Athletic Director with game-day preparations, athletic event logistics, and team travel considerations.
