Job Summary:

The School of Medicine and Public Health's (SMPH) Informatics and Information Technology (IIT) Department is excited to add an Academic Application Administrator to our Education & Training Technology team! The Education & Training Technology team provides consultation and support to various academic technologies and applications for the programs within Academic Affairs programs including the Office of Continuing Professional Development, Medical Education, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant, Public Health, and Genetic Counseling.

This position will primarily support the Learning Management application for the Office of Continuing Professional Development (OCPD) and the Interprofessional Continuing Education Partnership (ICEP) (). OCPD delivers accredited continuing education planned by, for, and with the healthcare team. OCPD collaborates with SMPH departments, UW-Madison health professions schools, UW Health, professional associations, and other community-based organizations that fall within its mission.

This position will be responsible for helping design and deliver learning activities, manage registration, and implement learner assessments and course evaluations within the learning management system. Additionally, this position will oversee user accounts, provide training to new users, create and maintain comprehensive documentation, and handle support requests efficiently and effectively. The role also involves coordinating with various vendors and supporting live learning events.

The Academic Application Administrator will report to the Director of Education & Training Technology within the Office of Informatics and Information Technology (IIT) and work closely with the Director and staff at the Office of Continuing Professional Development. This position is renewable.

Responsibilities:

Configures, integrates, administers, and provides advanced and varied consultation, project management, and operational support of highly complex applications or services with a large number of users. Anticipates issues and devises resolution methodology to support the business operations of the institution.
  • 5% Creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts to maintain application security through user profile management
  • 10% Monitors and maintains performance metrics for application features and recommends and takes corrective/preventive actions
  • 15% Troubleshoots hardware, software, and system problems and resolves issues and questions by working with vendors
  • 5% Participates in the evaluation of vendor software releases and impact
  • 5% Recommends application enhancements or changes that may involve custom design, integrations, and third-party products
  • 15% Participates in the design, development, and implementation of test and production objects. Defines user requirements and performs configuration, change management, and testing activities
  • 10% Develops and maintains documentation related to the system. Communicates system enhancement or changes as needed
  • 15% Plans and directs staff implementation of small to medium technical projects related to system as needed
  • 20% Provides consultation, training, quality assurance reviews, and/or support for academic applications to a variety of users

Qualifications:

Required:
- Academic Applications/Technologies Support: Minimum 3 years of experience supporting and/or facilitating the use of educational applications/technologies
- Technical Problem-Solving Skills: Minimum 3 years of professional experience demonstrating effective technical problem-solving skills by troubleshooting and resolving application/technology issues
- Self-motivated with Continuous Learning: Professional, self-motivated, and committed to continuous learning
- Communication Skills: Experience providing excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating technology concepts effectively with technically and non-technically proficient individuals and/or end-users
- Independent and Team Work: Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to Detail: High-level attention to detail

Preferred:
- Professional experience in an accredited continuing education environment
- Developed and updated comprehensive documentation for end-users
- Proficiency in HTML for web-based technology/applications
- Experience with data mining and data reporting
- Demonstrated project management experience, preferably utilizing a ticketing system or project-tracking software
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with technology/application vendors
- Background in instructional design, including creating and implementing educational materials

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Minimum $75,000 ANNUAL (12 months)

The starting salary for the position is $75,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
