Details:
Minimum Qualifications for consideration- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental sciences or a related field.
Experience:Five years of increasingly responsible wastewater treatment plant and collection system operations and maintenance experience including two years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. One year of Biological Nutrient Removal Treatment Processing is desirable.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a State of California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Grade V certificate is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities: Sanitation Services Division Deputy Public Works Director oversees the operations, maintenance, and strategic planning of the Sanitation Services Division, focusing on process improvements for the sewer collection system, wastewater treatment plant, and laboratory.
Leadership: Directs division activities, implements policies, and mentors staff for growth.
Strategic Planning: Ensures regulatory compliance, prepares reports, and enforces ordinances.
Community Relations: Manages public tours, media interactions, and resolves citizen inquiries.
Budget Management: Oversees budgets, monitors expenses, and plans for resource needs.
Collaboration: Coordinates with city departments and external agencies, representing the division.
Improvement: Identifies operational enhancements and aligns plans with organizational goals.
