**About the Role**
We are currently seeking a Production Underwriter or Senior Production Underwriter to join our Risk Solutions Division. In this role, you will be responsible for writing and managing Excess & Surplus (E&S) Property accounts. Your key responsibilities will include risk selection and rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and ensuring profitability in alignment with divisional goals. This position offers flexibility, with the option to work from our Cincinnati, OH headquarters in a hybrid environment or remotely, depending on your background and experience.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Manage risk selection and rejection, pricing, retention, growth, and profitability in accordance with divisional objectives.
- Utilize independent judgment and initiative to support business goals.
- Maintain a high level of customer service and satisfaction.
- Analyze coverage and limit requests, determining appropriate terms to offer.
- Price business in line with company guidelines.
- Assess risk quality and compliance, initiating loss prevention actions as needed.
- Order and review necessary reports for the rating and underwriting processes, including Motor Vehicle reports, loss history reports, credit checks, and loss control inspections.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers to attract and retain profitable business.
- Visit agents, brokers, and producers to strengthen existing accounts and develop new opportunities.
- Interpret, explain, and market our products and services.
- Administer and apply underwriting rules, guidelines, and insurance regulations.
- Provide technical guidance to junior associates and collaborate with other functional areas.
- Participate in coaching and performance management of staff, contributing to talent selection and development.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Liberal Arts, Business, or a related field.
- 2-7 years of experience in E&S Property underwriting.
- Experience with Recycling, Woodworking, and Light Manufacturing Risks is preferred.
- Familiarity with Primary and Lead Quota Share is a plus.
- Progress towards or completion of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel for broker visits.
- Strong communication skills to build and maintain excellent customer relationships and effectively market products and services.
- Proficient in various computer systems, including rating systems, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
