Summary:
Performs complex, high-quality repairs to finished surfaces of aircraft furniture both in the shop and onboard aircraft.
Applies finish using spray equipment and other manual/mechanical methods.
Interprets material specifications to ensure the final product meets design and engineering standards with a high level of quality and attention to detail.
Coordinates with the Design team to ensure compliance with approved customer samples.
Complies with and champions all Safety, 5S, and housekeeping practices.
Ensures proper protection of aircraft interiors (PTP).
Mentors and trains less experienced technicians.
Supports and implements process improvements that enhance safety, reduce costs, minimize cycle time, and optimize labor using Lean Six Sigma tools.
Uses the material tracking system to create part demands, track squawks, and sign off completed work.
Assists in developing initiatives to meet individual OGSM (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, and Measures) as required.
Takes on Lead responsibilities as needed, overseeing projects and coordinating task assignments.
Conducts safety audits and supports team members in conducting audits.
Assists with maintaining shop equipment and completing associated JSAs (Job Safety Analyses).
Contributes to "Your Ideas at Work" (YI@W) initiative by identifying and sharing opportunities for improvement.
Participates in monthly 5S audits.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Four (4) years of experience in wood finishing processes.
Advanced knowledge of cabinet finishing techniques and products required.
Aerospace industry experience preferred.
Working knowledge of inspection procedures, process specifications, and related terminology.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
Must be computer literate.
Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).
