Job Description

Position Summary :

The Education Coordinator at MS Middle School 135 Campus will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs for middle school participants in an after-school setting. This role involves creating a supportive and enriching environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth. The coordinator will work closely with program & school staff and community partners to ensure the program meets the needs of the participants.

 

Responsibilities :

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and implement educational activities and curricula that align with the needs and interests of middle school participants.
  • Ensure programs are age-appropriate, culturally responsive, and aligned with school standards.
  • Integrate technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning experiences.
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback.


Participant Support and Engagement:

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages participant participation and engagement.
  • Monitor participant progress and provide feedback to SONYC Program Director.


Collaboration and Communication:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with program & school staff and community organizations.
  • Coordinate with school teachers and administrators to align after-school activities with school curriculum.


Program Administration:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on program activities and outcomes.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in education, youth development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged children in an educational or after-school setting.


Salary : $44 per hour, 18 hours per week in July & Aug (hours worked must be between 9am-4pm Mon-Thurs and Fri 9am-5pm), 30 hours per week Sept-June (hours worked must be between 1pm-5pm)
