Job Description

Empowerment Academy Charter School is hiring full-time Staff Substitute Teachers for the current school year and beyond! This is a permanent position, not per diem. You would be a full-time member of our dynamic and fantastic staff and have access to benefits. There is an immediate vacancy at our Middle School and we have an upcoming vacancy at the Elementary School for next year.

You must hold your NJ Substitute Certificate to apply.

Salary: $41,500-61,500

TEACHER SUPPORTS

Teachers at Empowerment Academy are part of a school-wide team. They receive career-long coaching and professional development support from school leaders; work with their peers in professional learning communities (PLCs) to plan lessons and solve problems; and partner with an array of specialists to meet scholars’ diverse needs.

Examples of such teacher supports include:

• Abundant planning periods during the school day;
• A research-based curriculum and supporting curricular materials; 
• High-quality formative assessments, aligned with the curriculum, that help identify when students have not achieved mastery of a skill, concept, or knowledge item; and
• Full-time reading and math specialists who tutor students struggling to master an essential skill, and counselors and social workers who help students struggling with non-academic problems.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a substitute teaching certificate issued from the NJ Department of Education.

Candidates must have experience working with children and strong classroom management skills.

We generally seek the same qualities in assistant teachers and permanent subs that we seek in lead teachers. It is a major bonus if you have teaching certification or are working towards it. There is a lot of growth potential at our school for aspiring teachers.
